STEM Playground: Engaging in the World of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

POSTED ON DECEMBER 11, 2023

On 7-8 October 2023, we opened a booth for the STEM Playground as a part of the Sarawak Career and Training Fair 2023 held at Miri City Hall Marina. The fair was packed with information on education, financial aid, employment opportunities, and events like STEM Playground (which we participate in), TVET Battlefield, Talent Stage and Borneo Maker Festival.

In our booth, we have the Bee-Bot program, where we taught the children who visited our booth to use the Bee-Bot and try it themselves. It was nice to see many primary and secondary students enjoy learning and playing around with the Bee-Bot.

We also showcased the games created by our students. There were four types of games, and the students got to win the snacks we provided for each game. We are very proud and delighted to be able to show our students outstanding projects. Furthermore, we were happy to have people enjoy playing the game in our booth while getting to know our learning centre.

We also exhibited the merch for the NASA Apps Challenges, which coincidently took place on the same day! We also displayed videos about our learning centre and all the events we have conducted on TV for people to watch.

The 2-day event went smoothly. From my observation, many secondary students were interested in playing the Bee-Bot program. This was contrary to my expectations, where I assumed the Bee-Bot would be more popular with the younger children. I also observed how the parents are very supportive of their children and encourage their children to learn and play the Beebot and the games we offer. Additionally, there were also some teachers and parents interested in the program we provide at Realfun Learning Centre, which we really appreciate from the bottom of our hearts.

Overall, we had fun participating in the event and sharing our learning centre and students’ projects with the visitors. In this opportunity, we would like to thank the parents and children who came by our booth last time. If we ever get the chance to open a booth next time, do come and visit us!
